10 Purse Must-Haves

*Featured photo credit.

Besides the obvious phone, keys, and wallet, you probably have an assortment of other goodies in your handbag–fuzzy cough drops, stale gum, grocery store receipts, you know, all the crucial stuff.  Here we’ve assembled a list of 10 must-haves for your purse.  Don’t get caught without them!

1. Tweezers

Stainless Steel Slant Tweezer – $21.99 and Arch-Dual Slant Point Tip – $8.35

It’s 9:30am, you’re washing your hands in the work restroom sink, you look up and catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror–hey there unkempt eyebrows!  Howya doin’ errant chin hair?  You can spend the rest of the day hoping people don’t get too close to your face…or you can come prepared to pluck.

2. Mirror

Mother of Pearl Peacock Pair and Flower Magnifying Purse Mirror – $15.95

Not a shocker, right?  You probably have one in your purse already. Use it to touch up makeup or check after lunch for spinach in your teeth.

3. Lip Moisturizer

Softlips Lip Balm Protectant (Pack of 6) – $15.26

Another standard for the handbag.  I especially love Softlips brand because it goes on really light, feels sort of cool and refreshing, and it moisturizes like a son of a gun.  Yeah, I said it.

4. Pen & Paper

Wellspring Flip Note – $6.05

Gotta have pen and paper.  Who knows when you’ll need to write down a reminder, a list, the phone number of someone you meet at the bar.  I love the option above because of the hard aluminum case which will prevent the pieces of paper from folding and ripping while the pad is floating around in your bag.

5. Tampons

That’s Linda the llama.  That’s Linda’s shocked face.  That’s what happens when Linda finds herself without an emergency tampon.  Don’t be like Linda.

6. Blotting Papers

Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens – $10

Blotting papers are great for touching up shiny areas of your face throughout the day.  Simply apply to the shine, press, and remove.  No need to keep an extra set of expensive powder in your purse, or risk forgetting to pack it for the day.

7. Tinted lip gloss

Rimmel Stay Glossy Lipgloss in Diamond Dust and Endless Night – $4.73

Sometimes I find myself out and about, running errands, and I suddenly catch a glimpse of a tired-looking, blotchy-complexioned person in the rear view.  Wait a minute…that’s me.  I like having a quick and easy cosmetics boost with me, like this amazing lip gloss by Rimmel: super cheap, beautiful colors and subtle shine, and long lasting.

8. Concealer

Revlon Age Defying Moisturizing Concealer – $5.67 and MAC Select Cover-Up – $17

See above–tired, blotchy–now add a surprise blemish that pops up around 2pm while I’m at work.  A little concealer on top that won’t make me break out further is just the ticket.  Neither of these concealers, from Revlon and MAC, will clog pores or irritate skin. Plus, dap a little under the eyes to cover up dark circles.

9. Bobby pins

Conair Bobby Pins – $6.99

Some might prefer to stock hairbands in their bags instead of bobby pins…but bobby pins are a better fix for a seriously bad hair day.  Strategically pinning here and there allows you to hide things like oily hair or unruly kinks.

10. Tissue

So many opportunities for tears on a daily basis–Subaru commercials, mood swings, the parking lot attendant who is unsympathetic to your lost ticket.  Keep tissues in your bag and feel free to cry away.

What do you think of our list?  Miss anything you absolutely MUST have in your purse?

i’m not a huge fan of lipglosses cuz of the hair + wind combo. so i’d change that for a nail filer! if i broke a nail when out and about i don’t want to file it on a wall, so better have something to fix it quickly ;)
