I used to reside squarely in the camp that a baggy t-shirt, sweat pants, and any old sneaks qualified as workout clothing. Don’t get me wrong, anyone can certainly work out in that clothing, and if it’s what you’re most comfortable in, you should! But as I started to make strides in my fitness levels, stylish clothing for my workouts really started to appeal to me. I noticed that when I wore workout clothing that I actually liked, and felt looked good on me, I was more motivated to work out. I didn’t look in the mirror and say “bleh”, I looked in the mirror and thought “cute outfit!”
Earlier this week a fun mailer came from Nordstrom, full of workout wear and gear for women. Some of the prices are on the high side, especially for clothes you actually plan to sweat in, but we can always wait for a sale. Here’s some of my faves.
Both these leggings look oh-so-comfortable, and look like they’d be perfect for a good run or session of circuit training. And if you need to run an errand or two right after working out, you’ll feel cute and stylish hustling around in these. Check out all the printed pants & capris at Nordy’s here.
How feminine and fun is this tee? If you’re not down with a little belly showing, just turn the top around. Plus the loose fit helps hide possible muffin top created by the waistband of your pants.
Under Armour Fly By Top ($39.99)
The perfect top for cool weather running. Thumb holes to keep your sleeves in place, and mesh panels to release extra body heat. Plus there’s that nifty pock on the back you can stash a key and ID in. And the price isn’t half bad on this one!
Zella ‘Prism’ Jacket ($98) & Hard Tail Half Zip Pullover ($114)
I’d happily wear either one of these while not working out, but I’d feel extra saucy on a walk/hike/run while wearing either option.
Hard Tail New Windsor Tank ($62) & Under Armour Charged Cotton® Tank ($24.99)
That tank on the left is stylin’ enough to just pair with a black skirt and go! The Under Armour tank is a good basic one that will wick moisture away. Perfect right now for an indoor, high intensity class, and will be more than welcome once warm weather rolls back around. Shop the looks here and here.
The North Face ‘ThermoBall™’ Jacket ($199) & ‘Hybrid’ PrimaLoft® Jacket ($160)
Two pretty coats, both with technical features. The Thermoball jacket can be folded down and stowed in a pocket on the inside of the jacket (nifty!), and the Hybrid has tech storage and control. Now if only these would go on sale.
Nike ‘Free 5.0’ Running Shoe ($100)
Available in 15 different color combos, these are about as lightweight and comfy of a sneaker as you can get. They most definitely do not have to be used for running, but if you don’t normally run, perhaps these will inspire you!
If you’ve started a new workout regimen, best of luck in 2014! And are you a plus size? Don’t you worry, Nordstrom has you covered.
