Captain Blankenship Mermaid Sea Salt Hairspray – $24
Salty, wavy locks that look like you spent the day swimming and lazing near the ocean. If that’s an option for you on a regular basis, lucky! If not, you’ve got to turn to the every popular Sea Salt Hair Spray that just about every hair product brand makes nowadays to get the look.
Always being on the lookout for all natural products that actually work as well as their chemical counterparts, I was pleasantly surprised to recently come across a sample bottle of Captain Blankenship’s Mermaid Sea Salt Hairspray.
I decided to put it to the ultimate test for my hair, applying while damp and letting it air dry. If I can find a product that allows my thin, fly-away hair to dry with some semblance of control, I’m hooked.
This product worked for me. With only 6 ingredients (most being organic), I wasn’t sure how well it would control my hair. Turns out it’s an awesome sea salt spray. When applied to damp hair it adds control. When applied to dry hair, it adds a lot of texture. This comes from the salt and organic kelp extract, which naturally contains silicon, thus smooths and adds luster.
The only thing lacking is a pretty scent, but like most completely natural products, this has an earthy herbal scent to it. According to the Captain Blakenship website, Rose Geranium and Palmarosa oils are added for scent. The sample I got wasn’t really reminiscent of either to me, but that’s not a deal breaker. When a product works this well, and is completely natural, no perfume is needed.
The spray is $24 for 4 ounces. Not cheap, but worth it for the quality, and to support a proprietor that makes products that are good not only for our planet, but for us creatures that inhabit this planet as well.
